EARTH SONG
World Premiere: IFFR 2026 / Harbour
Rojin (Dilan Gwyn), a 40-year-old Kurdish-Finnish doctor in Helsinki, has devoted her life to humanitarian work, often at the cost of her family. Her absence strains her marriage with her husband, Ferhat (Feyyaz Duman). Her teenage daughter, Azad (Zenan Tünc), doesn’t yet know she is adopted, and Rojin struggles with how to tell her the truth.
When her father, Nizam (Ali Seçkiner Alıcı), visits her from Sweden, he reveals a secret he has kept for decades: he is not Rojin’s biological father, and her real parents were killed because of him in 1980s Kurdistan, during the military coup in Türkiye on September 12, 1980. Soon after, Nizam takes his own life.
Determined to understand her origins and reconnect with Azad, Rojin travels to Kurdistan with Nizam’s ashes. Earth Song is a story of family, memory, and personal discovery across generations and borders.
